Wie wir töten, wie wir sterben (The way we kill, the way we die)

The suspects, two members of the Algerian National Liberation Front, have gone into hiding in Germany. Meanwhile a Mossad agent Ephaim Rosenberg is on a similar mission–he is trying to locate former concentration camp commandant and mass murderer, Arthur Florstedt, kidnap him and take him to Israel. Florstedt was responsible for the deaths of Rosenberg's closest family members. Fate brings the two agents Vanuzzi and Rosenberg together as they venture into the darkness of the 20th century's history of violence.

Sojus (Soyuz)

Synopsis: 1956: Andreas Eckart is contacted by a former comrade-in-arms who wants to acquire an explosive dossier for the British intelligence service MI6: a Hungarian secret police wants to defect into the West and offers a list with the names of KGB agents and double agents. Eckart initially refuses. But then he learns that he has a son of whom he knew nothing yet, and that he is also on the list bearing the code name "Soyuz". Eckart changes his mind and embarks on a delicate mission to Budapest, where the Soviet invasion is in full swing and the city is sinking into chaos and violence … .

Rattenlinien (Rat Lines)

Synopsis: Europe in 1946: A continent in ruins, one of the most appalling hunger winters of the 20th century casts its shadow. The German murderers try to escape overseas on the so-called "rat lines".
Andreas Eckart, former member of the Berlin Kripo, is hired by a US special command to hunt for fugitive war criminals – after all, Eckart gained valuable experience in Nazi defense. First, the traumatized and aging ex police officer hesitates – but it quickly becomes clear that the Americans are targeting his former colleague and rival Wagner, the "butcher of Baranavichy". The trail leads to a mysterious monastery in the Alps … .

Tage der Nemesis (Days of Nemesis)

Synopsis: Spring of 1921: the body of former Turkish minister Talât Pascha is found in Berlin’s noble district Charlottenburg. The book’s protagonist, commissioner Andreas Eckart, recognizes the deceased as one of the key figures responsible for the Armenian genocide of 1915. He quickly discovers evidence of a terrorist organization taking revenge in the name of the victims, targeting those politically responsible for ordering the genocide. Further assassinations lead Eckart and his investigation all the way to Rome, yet the more progress he makes, the deeper he becomes entangled in the political moves of a profoundly antagonized Europe caught between the catastrophes of two world wars.
Finally, Eckart himself becomes a target of the assassins… .
A breathless political thriller about genocide and revenge that captures the politically heated atmosphere of the 1920s.

Oktoberplatz (October Square)

Synopsis: 21st century Belarus: President Lukashenka rules the country with a rod of iron. Newspapers are banned, politicians of the opposition vanish. The population has resigned itself and drowns in a mixture of vodka and fatalism. In the midst of all of this, Wasil, the novel's hero, wants to get rid of his aunt Alezja – for good!
Oktoberplatz tells the story of personal and political frustration, leading Wasil to fraud, incest and murder. It is a book about love, longing, family, power, and abuse. But it is also about one of Europe's last dictatorships, about the confusions of Socialism and Capitalism.
While researching this novel, von Arndt lived among members of the Belarusian opposition in Minsk.

Der Tod ist ein Postmann mit Hut (Death is a Postman in a Hat)

Synopsis: Who is anonymously sending him a blank sheet of paper by registered mail every month? And what does the sender mean by it? Might there be a dark secret in his past or in that of his family?
These are the questions that guitarist Julio, whose main source of income it has been for years to edit rock music classics for Chinese fast food restaurants, is asking himself. Julio decides to get to the bottom of these letters. The resulting journey makes him fall back on himself, and shakes up his life. – Gripping and witty: a "soul whodunit" and wonderfully light-footed novel that offers food for thought.

ego shooter

Synopsis: ego shooter is the German term for first-person shooter, computer games in which the player sees everything through the eyes of his character. Player and character become one. The virtual world becomes the real world. Kovács, the novel’s hero, is a professional online player. In his hermetically sealed apartment, he participates in reenactments of World War II airplane battles night after night. He makes his living by bringing down as many planes as possible. Kovács lives the life of a new generation that consistently exists in the virtual reality of computers – until he is afflicted with an illness that first incapacitates him for playing, and eventually threatens his life.
ego shooter is an equally bizarre and tragic story of the desire for new niches in a society dominated by computers. It is also the story of a threat: Kovács is representative of a young generation forced to find its own way within society’s increasingly brutal distributional battles.
